Topps Pro Debut: RDNB

RDNB: Reverse Bo Not Buy
I bought a few packs of this stuff a while back partially because I am generally fairly interested in Minor League Baseball, and new products, but most of all I had no idea what it looked like. Sweet. Serves me right for not seeing that coming.
I pulled some color parallels (hell, now that I think about it, they are embossed serial numbers, which topps seems to be distancing itself from) and some A-ball "all stars"...all in the regurgitated 2010 design that I did not particularly appreciate in the first place. Sure it's cool to get some high draft picks, and the AA and AAA logos can get pretty intense, but I was just plain offended by shyte design and pseudo-hits.
'Don't really feel like addressing what people are paying for this, but have you seen what you get with a box of bowman? Granted, seperate product, etc.
THEN, I had a change of heart.
Have I sold it short so far? hells yes. I was getting ready to issue a public DO NOT BUY on this product for fear of almost-guaranteed disappointment. That changed...

It happened when I realized that there were some clean-looking cards of guys who play here in Richmond at the Diamond. Okay, there really aren't too many Connecticut Defenders come Richmond Squirrels, but I know that assorted other coards will come in handy from time to time on the third base line. I brought a Frederick Keys card of a pitcher kickin it in the Bowie Bullpen, and just missed him.

I then went home and found a guy on eBay named none other than Jimmy Page (great sign to me). I bought the "team set" of all of the Giants affiliates cards from the Pro Debut set sos I can have 'em in pocket at the park. Purpose has been found. Hence, RDNB status.

The following card is free to who wants it. It cannot stay in my house. I think it's numbered to 50, but I know it should have been an action shot. (I couldn't quite make it smaller after I scanned it, no offense bro, I bet you mow 'em down but you made for the ugliest wax pack I've split since Ramon Martinez was an all-star)

Topps Million Card Drag-on

So I have gotten some OUTDSANDING CARDS from Beardy from the relatively newly-consolidated The Mojo Hand, and a stash like NO OTHER from My Man Jim over at GCRL and trading has been great. I love to send more than I have to, so get at me if there is something I can help you with.

When I found another TMC giveaway card in a single pack I picked up the other day, I first thought of the fact that there could NOT be a list of ALL redeemed cards...or could there be...

I am toying with just inputting the code as soon as I get the chance, but given my Vintage binge as of late, I want for the best possibilities.

For the record, I have read your posts (if you are on my blogroll) and heard the theories...Is there an answer?

Time will tell. Have you thought about what happens when they run out?

uhhhhh...but with 2010 Topps on the shelves potentially perpetually, will they run out at all?

Now this makes me think of a "short list" in a few years of what is "still out there"...

subsequently, the only thought that this all leaves me with is:

"damn Topps...where was this in 94?", "what braintrust did you have to bring together to get this promotion on the shelves?"

My dad, GRHS, was a bonafide Marketing Genius, and avid Milwaukee Braves fan (That's where I got the two signed County Stadium WS Programs came from) would have been very impressed by the comprehensive nature of the solution to the continued sales of Topps products both in the hobby and in the retail markets.

This card makes me think about my dad. He was a strong and proud man. I miss him horribly.

Sometimes this blog will get real, but what did you want? fluf? ef that.

Since this will almost definitely be my last "TMC" redemtion, and I have 7 cards already(that I like, not LOVE) soooo....

I have no less than 20 copies of this exact card. (so do you.) and can find one by yelling out loud in a moderately large crowd.

I don't know guys...maybe if I had more faith. screw that, they have me on a schedule! they get me hooked with these, and then bring me back to pull this. They are keeping track of who gets whut, more or less, and will make sure you don't bandit away all the mays, mantle and aaron goods.

***This is in no way a referendum on George Brett, or even 1989 topps, simply the sheer overproduction and still (20yrs later) a supply that far outstrips the demand.

My Sweet Piece of the Millions.

I seem to have done just fine in this whole fray. I am actually pretty geeked about these cards. The Marichal makes this whole thing rife with mystique that I will have to fight so as not to buy anymore 2010 topps. The Larry Gura Sky Blue card is Gorgeous. and Chico from the 61 set...I have a feeling I will be reading about another interesting "pull" at some point tonight.

If anyone "in the program" wants to trade a Milwaukee 61(cept for Spahn and team card for old Chico here...drop me a line......and I've gotten waaaay ahead of myself.

EDIT: the more I look around, the more I think this may be a lot like me playing slots. I come out on top every time I play, but I never bet that much.

2010 Topps: FAST Part II

Ok, I promise to at least start off more positive about these 2010 Topps.
I actually really like this card despite the two strikes it has against it (see below) It is GOLD and I love gold. It also features three of my most respected disciplined hitters I have had the pleasure of seeing play in person. I will eat my words later, but I wish it showed all three nameplates...at least for continuity.

These cards are not crowded, awkward or third-rate action shots. They are in the vast minority. I actually think the Andruw Jones was my favorite looking base card.

Too going on. Forced to look away, I realize quickly that is not what collectible trading cards are for.

Way too damn much going on on this card. It is simpler in the scan due to the lack of silver glint that adds to the chaos captured here in a simple pose shot. Did you see the Topps All-Star Rookie logo on the left? took me a while too. If that is what it will look like from now on, that is another binder I can stop putting pages in the back of. Also, If they chrome this stuff, and do the whole "sunken line" thing, illegibility will reign.

...and of course Topps is going, backs, backs, backs! backs Gone!

2010 Topps 5 packs: FAST-Part One

Okay, so I have read everyone else's posts on their blasters and such and I wanted a piece. I have not looked at any numbers, rules, probabilitites or anything, merely one blaster and several pack breaks. I bought these to open and post here. The hysteria of the Topps flagship set only lasts but so long, and I love a good ride.
There is nothing here that I wouldn't trade for the right card.

Here are a few packs highlights that came through pretty well overall. One thing...kinda major, NO BREWERS. Pit. (SO FAR Looking for Prince Fielder base/parallel and Target exclusive Brewers Team set only)

What do we do with these things again? If I wind up with one of those cards, Topps and I will come to terms.

These "Cards Yer Ma Tossed" in the Target-Grey would have been cool. As a matter of fact just as cool as Topps Archives without the gold stamp. that's it, Which is really not that cool.

This need not have been done again. Insert or not, Base set or not, real back or not, this is one of many powerfully supurfluous insert sets to be had in these packs. I have omitted some altogether in favor of a "you want?" list. (details later)

Frank Robinson for the Cincinnati Redlegs, would have coveted an O's card, but the back is authentic-style, much cooler than the alternative. Wonder what that means odds-wise?

Longoria 2nd year (yes, last year's card and the most regretable bs reprint filler I have seen from 2010 Topps to date)...stamped in gold...after "my mom threw it away"....hmm...where was my mom during 1992-94 Toppsgold rush? she coulda thown out my cards and made some money.

Must be a slow year for baseball releases for me to ba talking so much sh** already.
